For Halloween we put together a book of 38 activities with ghosts, pumpkins, cauldrons and lanterns. It’s for children who are just starting to read, roughly between 5 and 8. Three of those activities are free to download before you buy, and for kids who already read and write with some ease there are spelling worksheets on c, k and ck with words of the season.
How do the downloads work?
The free activities and the spelling worksheets download directly from their pages, as PDFs. The full book goes through the cart, and its files are ready the moment you check out. Every download comes in two versions: the color one looks best on screen, and the black and white one is the one to print at home or photocopy for the whole class.
What’s in the book?
Halloween Read and Play has 50 letter-size pages. There are read-and-match pages, picture crosswords, mazes, word searches, cut-out figures and coloring pages, all with words of the season like ghost, cauldron, pumpkin and broom.
The free set has three of them: the maze “Rony Is Sleepy,” a word search and a read-and-match page, each with its answer key. It shows whether the level suits your child before you get all 38.

The read-and-play activities use short words, big pictures and instructions that fit on one line. The c, k and ck worksheets go a step further, with four activities on when the /k/ sound is spelled c, k or ck in words like cauldron, skeleton and broomstick.
